Proficiency Awards

"Paddle Plus" is the brand name of the Canoeing Ireland Proficiency (Skills) Awards Scheme. The system starts with the Discovery Level Award developed for use with introductory sessions to paddlesports, which may be a video session, a slide show, a school visit or an on water session. Further to the Discovery Level there are five levels of on-water paddling proficiency for each of the three categories of canoeing - River Kayaking, Sea Kayaking and Open Canoeing. The awards provide for improving and increasing a canoeist's range of skills and techniques in response to increasingly more difficult water environments.
